Boca del Lupo is one of Vancouver’s most innovative and dynamic theatrecompanies, specializing in experimental theatrical productions and spectacular outdoor presentations, while focusing on collaborations with international, national and regional artists.
Boca del Lupo originated as a collective and for the last 8 years Sherry J Yoon and Jay Dodge have led the company. Sherry has co created and directed over 15 of the company’s original productions and Jay’s writing, performance and designs have been central to all of Boca del Lupo’s shows.
Boca del Lupo has received numerous awards including Jessie Richardson Theatre Awards for Outstanding Production and Design, the Critic’s Choice Award for Innovation and the Alcan Performing Arts Award.

Boca del Lupo’s foundation leads back to Source Studio, a collectively run rehearsal studio, venue and party space located at 40 East Hastings and accessed through a back alley entrance in Vancouver’s notorious Downtown Eastside. Moving out to make way for social housing after three remarkable years, Boca del Lupo has been on the hunt for a new production facility ever since. Boca del Lupo’s nine year effort has culminated in Progress Lab 1422, a joint production and administration centre at 1422 William Street with Neworld Theatre, The Electric Company and Rumble Productions.
After 3 months of extensive renovations, the 6,000 square foot former garment factory now has a full-size rehearsal hall, and administration offices for the four companies. The hub is named after Progress Lab, the larger informal and co-operative resource-sharing arts network that counts the four companies as members.
